Clinical Tipping Points In Portal Hypertension Virtual Broadcast

May 2026

In this CME webcast, leading hepatology experts Joseph Lim, MD, Patrick Horne, NP, and Robert Wong, MD, discuss the evolving management of clinically significant portal hypertension (CSPH) in patients with cirrhosis. The conversation explores the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and risk stratification of portal hypertension, including the use of non-invasive testing, liver stiffness measurement, and endoscopic findings to identify patients at risk for decompensation. Faculty also review current evidence surrounding non-selective beta blockers, early and preemptive TIPS placement, and multidisciplinary approaches to managing complications such as variceal bleeding, ascites, hepatic hydrothorax, and hepatic encephalopathy. Through a practical, evidence-based discussion, this webcast highlights emerging strategies aimed at improving outcomes and reducing liver-related complications in patients with advanced chronic liver disease.

This is a non-accredited, archived recording of the broadcast that was jointly provided by Medical Education Resources and Chronic Liver Disease Foundation, in collaboration with Gastroenterology & Hepatology Advanced Practice Providers.
